All India Essay Writing Competition 2017 - IFMR University

The School of Social Sciences at IFMR University is organizing an essay writing competition for undergraduate students in India. This is a first-ever contest to challenge the current generation on innovative ideas that can solve the challenges faced by the Indian economy. So, if you have flair for writing and would like to pen your thoughts on some contemporary economic issues then here is an opportunity that you can’t afford to miss. Winners will be awarded attractive cash prizes.

Essay topics (Choose any one)

  • From Made in India to Make in India
  • Leveraging technology to make Bharat for more productive
  • Promoting social entreprenuership in India
  • The promise of Digital India program for economic prosperity in India

Rules and regulations

  • Essay must written  in English
  • The word limit for essay : 1500 words including references (should be strictly adhered to)
  • All entries must be typed in Times New Roman; font size 12; double spaced
  • This Essay writing competition is open to all UG students currently pursuing UG program in an institution affiliated to an Indian university and approved by UGC.
  • Participants can carry out their own research on a particular topic. However all submitted essays must be original. References and quotations therein should be duly mentioned and acknowledged. Plagiarized essays will be summarily rejected.
  •  The last date of receipt of essay is 30 April, 2017. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • Only one essay per participant is allowed. Multiple submissions will not be accepted and will lead to rejection of all submissions made by a particular participant.
  • Decisions of the jury will be final.
  • Results of the essay competition list will be declared on May 30, 2017

Evaluation Criteria

  • Introduction (10 % weight): articulation
  • Structure and overall flow (weight 20%): coherence
  • Language (10%): spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style of expression
  • Originality (20%): novelty of ideas and examples
  • Relevance (10%): pertinence
  • Attention to details/ research and additional analysis using real-life data (10%)
  • Conclusion (20%)
