Our assessments of psychological aspect of learning and of academic skills aim to determine effective programmes for our clients’ children or students. We categorized our plans into Prevention, Intervention and Maintenance so as to provide our clients with structured solutions that not only address their current concerns but also provide them with various support options available for their children’s or student’s future development. We take each client as an individual case management, where we welcome multidisciplinary collaboration with schools and other therapy centres in order to ensure generalization of newly acquired skills and wholistic progress.

Prevention

Children with special needs such as Autism, Down Syndrome, Developmental Delay and other types of learning differences, have weak cognitive processing and ability. However, if given specialized training and teaching approaches, they will improve their weak skills and bridge their ability gaps. Thus, preventing them from falling further behind in their developmental milestones.

Intervention

Students with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder and weak executive functions, often fall behind in school because they have difficulty comprehending through the way things were taught in school. These students are just as intelligent as their peers. In fact, many are intellectually gifted. The only difference is their brains are wired differently. As long as there is no one who could help them to capitalize on their strengths, the learning and ability gaps will get wider. Until these gaps are bridged, students with learning difficulties are at high risk for many emotional, social and educational problems. The problems could include an inability to make friends and be apart from social groups, poor self-concept, academic failure, and being labeled as clumsy, uncooperative, belligerent, disruptive, or "out of control".

Anxiety, depression, aggression or other behaviour problems can follow. People who are unaware of these children’s differences may blame their parents for their "misbehavior". What makes the situation worse is when parents start adopting punitive measures due to the pressure to discipline their children.

Maintenance

It is important that a child or student receives consistent reinforcement of new skills acquired. Our maintenance programmes aim at coaching parents and teachers on practical strategies on how to provide continual support to their children or students on application and generalization of skills acquired. In addition, we coach students with study strategies and skills such as goal setting, note taking, mind-mapping, time-management, memory techniques and etc. These practical study skills are essential to ensure our students’ are equipped with skills that enable them to capitalize their strengths and manage their weaknesses independently.

Maintenance
